Completata in 2:55:23

So, I am half way through the Lake Orta 10 in 10, and I do not want it to end!

The friends I have reunited with, the wonderful atmosphere, the brilliant organisation, the food (!) and evenings spent together.  I am glad the marathons start each morning at 8am, as this year, the weather is very hot. Definitely not the weather to beat my current World Record on this course!

Day 1: Technically the most important day- to see how I am feeling and learn where the aid stations are along the course. I do like the fact it is an out and back course, so I can wave to friends as we pass.

Completed in 2:54:38

Highlight of day 1: Celebrating my 500th marathon/ultra with friends! What a lovely cake I was presented with!

Day 2: The run was fine but I struggled with the aid station at the far end. I asked for natural water but I got sparkling water and it’s something that doesn’t sit in my stomach very well!

Completed in 2:55:23

Highlight of day 2: Watching my friend Giorgio get under 3 hours for his marathon!

Day 3: I was hoping it would rain but still nothing, another good run and adding another under 3 hour marathon to my list! It was hot! And I still keep picking up sparkling water!

Completed in 2:57:07

Highlight of day 3: Following Paolo in his car at the start for half a mile, he needs to drive faster next time! Or I will end up in the car 😉

Day 4: I felt pressure today to try and finish in under 3 hours, as I was on my 199th marathon that I had completed in under 3 hours. During the last 10k, I didn’t think I was going to do it but picked the pace up and completed it! Another hot day and yes, more sparkling water. I think there is no natural water at the aid stations…

Completed in 2:56:44

Highlight of day 4: Achieving my 200th under 3 hour marathon!

Day 5: It was nice to be able to run with someone else today. The second half I slowed down, and took it easy as I wanted to run in the shade. Happy to finish 2nd and have a more relaxing run! Oh and the tap on the way back is definitely natural water. Win!

Completed in 2:57:14

Highlight of day 5: Having a nice run followed by a trip to Switzerland for dinner!! I hope there is ice-cream!
