????Completato in 5h27mins.
Ero tipo “shucks come farò a correre i prossimi 42,190 km?” Schifo.

Cheers to day 3 of Lake Orta 10 in 10, a race I signed for, actually worried I’ll “DNF”. As the name reads, I’d (attempt to) run 10 marathons in 10 days. Each morning at 8am, the race starts on a 10.5km out and back route – twice along the southwestern part of Lake Orta.
With most European marathons having a 6hour or shorter cutoff, I thought the 8hour was rather “generous”. However, I’m sure I’ll appreciate (and likely fully utilize) this in the coming days.
Day 1: Started the first day clueless about the terrain, relying on the event description – “85% asphalt, 15% dirt roads”. That literally translated to 85% slopes, 15% trails! Add 400m worth of elevation gain and a blistering 39deg heat! Told myself to go slow, and remain injury free.

????Highlight of day 1: THE REALIZATION
Day 2: First time ever – just couple of steps from the start line and my hamstrings cramped up! I was like “shucks how am I gonna run the next 42.190km?” Instinctively I switched to use my calf muscles instead and was literally kept “on my toes” throughout – until the last 5km, I fell. Crap.
????Completed in 5h54mins.
????Highlight of day 2: THE FALL
Day 3: Started the race with a bang – literally. Just 2km in and I felt the urge to poop! Suddenly all sensations of pain from my wounds and muscle aches were diverted upwards and thankfully inwards! Never in my wildest dreams I’d imagine the day I’d have to take a dump in the woods!

????Highlight of day 3: THE POOP
I’m extremely impressed with the organization by @clubsupermarathonitalia
Everything was perfect! Daily shuttle buses from the hotel to the race and back; well stocked aid stations every 5km, but the best would be the “Marathon Paradise” at the end where runners can swim in a private area, with BBQ meats, pasta, fruit, live band and unlimited beer! Highlight of the race indeed. I think my alcoholic friends reading this are getting excited.
